The Between 1877 And 1920 Essay - 1519 Words

1. Between 1877 and 1920 America emerged as a leading industrial and urban nation. Discuss the challenges faced by three of the following groups: business, labor, the city, and farmers. How did each of these sectors endeavor to find stability through a search for order through organization? Businesses, laborers, and farmers faced major challenges between 1877 and 1920. This was a time period that included both the Gilded Age and World War 1, and the challenges that these three parts of society faced were very different between each group and throughout each period. Businesses had to deal with things called â€Å"trusts† with other businesses. Many businesses desired to hold the monopoly of an entire industry, and competition was intense and cutthroat. Laborers, of course, faced the challenges of not having the previously mentioned working conditions, as well as pay cuts and unemployment during the depressions in the 1870s and the 1890s. Farmers had to deal with major drops in the prices for their crops due to the second Industrial Revolution and the developm ent of new technology, as well as the already-difficult farming of the West. Many southern farmers were sharecroppers, as well, and as the prices for their goods fell, so did their standard of living. Each of these sections tried to find stability in different ways; however, one similarity was that all of them formed some kind of organization. Laborers formed unions, while farmers formed organizations like the Farmer’sShow MoreRelatedThe American Dream1948 Words   |  8 PagesFollowing the Reconstruction Era, from 1877 to 1920, the United States of America was undergoing industrial, political and social change. Photography Freed Art From Realism - 1135 Words

Athanasios Sipsis Mr. Mustoe Art 12 December 2014 Photography freed Art from Realism The camera is an invention that has been around for five hundred years. Over those five hundred years, photography has helped drive advancements in society and art. The invention of photography has allowed western art to be freed from the controversial limitations of realism and has paved the way for extravagant changes in art by changing the way artists use and interpret the elements of art. Some art movements that have utilized this are impressionism, cubism, and post-modernism. Realism started to take form in the mid 1800’s in the aftermath of the 1848 French revolution and the start and rise of the industrial revolution. The aim of realism in art is to reproduce objects, people, and the landscape encompassing them as accurately to life as possible. Their subject matter mostly consisted of average people going through their everyday life instead of the extravagant and elegant portrayal of people that art movements before it portrayed. Realism contained very little stylistic elements and opted to be limited in the use of color, perspective, and brush work. Portraits done in a realism style were also very popular to people with money in that time period, and were regularly commissioned at high costs. Now taking this all into account you may have realized that creating a piece of work takes an extensive amount of time, and even then a painting is still not 100% accurate. Personal Development Portfolio e-Commerce in Developing Nation

Question: Discuss about the Personal Development Portfolio for the report of e-Commerce in Developing Nation. Answer: Personal Knowledge and Experience to Identify Areas of Interest In this module of study, I identified the relationship in between the direct investment and international business. The prior week module helped me to understand the international trading theory in modern business. Mostly, I viewed through the theories that are quite relevant to the topic; those are Mercantilism, theory of absolute advantage, factor endowment theory, and international product life cycle theory. I took interest in modern business patterns following application of these theories. Furthermore, I studied through the operational and organizations capability in minimizing certain gaps and limitations, as cultural, taxpaying, and legal barriers. However, the expansion planning is more important in this week for developing international business in a scalable manner. Now, in current week, I prepared emerging risk and issues identification in the context, the agenda was to evaluate e-commerce, government corruption, and price volatility. The risks and issues might be related to other concerns as privacy and security threats. My area of interest was in preparing a certain strategy or planning to mitigate such threats and issues. I had experience of understanding the government corruption in e-commerce market segmentation. Furthermore, I studied the regulatory process to prevent the security risks. However, I considered all the learning outcomes to present the module with proper quality. Personal Perspectives and Assumptions Personal perspectives in emerging e-commerce were to consider the primary challenge as price volatility. Along with increasing frequency and unpredictable products, the e-commerce organizations fail to understand the overall market demand for particular target customers. The organizations face the main problem of price volatility as it has impact on retailer performance. I studied the current stock prices of some e-commerce business to gain clear picture of price volatility. I found that the leading retailers have invested in technology and finally, it resulted in difficulty in staying top in the lot. Again, the price tracking is becoming less predictable with time, hence, I identified the solution as use of Market Tracks PriceVision technology that records the intra-day price and changes on basis of global marketing products. This technology limits the uncertainty and reduces the risk of finding better prices within competitive environment. I took assumptions in dealing with price volatility as considering that there are competitors for every e-business corporation; the products are quite popular, and demanding from clients. Again, the prices are considered high rather than the competitors to stay in top of business hierarchy. Moreover, the performance of retailers is tracked within common base of product and service quality. Current Practices for Module Points I followed the current practices as in viewing the government corruption and anti-corruption regulations to deal with e-business strategy making. I studied the several fraud cases among e-business to understand the role of government in this aspect. Mainly, the fraud cases suggest the types as bribery, illegal gratuities, economic extortion, and conflicts of interests. I identified that identity theft, phishing, and spoofing is most relevant in this fraud cases. In between countries as Latin America, Asia, Africa, and other developed countries, the corruption index is higher in Latin America as 0.62 with government effectiveness of 0.46. Furthermore, I studied the points of solutions in prevention of frauds, using code of ethics, prosecution policy, and employee assistance program. The segmentation of duties can be another suitable mitigation process dealing with fraud cases. On the flipside, I read some literatures throughout to investigate the situation of e-government measures to combat corruption in certain countries. I included problem-oriented research to find out how the government can reduce corruption effectiveness in e-business. I studied some anti-corruption and reflective measures specifically, to prepare strategy proposition in e-business. Strategies to Achieve Plans First, I planned for researching throughout the topic, with studying various relevant literature, article, and journals. Secondly, I prepared the learning points in a cluster form to jot down the key points. Thirdly, I prepared mitigation strategies to deal with the identified risks and issues in e-business. Finally, I listed the strategies to prevent such risks and issues in this context, to prevent those difficulties and challenges. To achieve the planning, I maintained suitable scheduling of each activity. I followed a premature timeline to convey each activity with proper sincerity and compliance of knowledge. I considered all readings in the module to gain several arguments and ideas about the emerging risks. I listed all opinions in suitable draft to apply them in academic writing of modules. Furthermore, I took interest in in-depth study of each risk and issue in terms of international trading theories, how those theories are applied to understand the preventive measures. Among these theories, I studied the potential solutions to reduce such risks and issues in e-business; therefore, I prepared the strategic planning for preventing those fraudulent situations. The strategies are identified regarding the evaluation of such business practices of e-commerce. Potential Areas Identification for Personal Development and Growth After considering all the aspects of personal knowledge and experience application, I faced some problems in personal limitations. Mainly, I found those limitations in making suitable timeline segmentation, because I do not have proper knowledge of Gantt chart and task scheduling. However, I followed traditional routine making process to deal with week wise module completion. In future, I need to learn the Gantt chart making to continue suitable scheduling mechanism and techniques with slack consideration and delay estimation. In case of considering further study, I found that I was weak in applying researcher arguments in critical analysis conductance. I served the critical points consideration within normal perception of debate making, however, this module required cross learning of critical views of some articles. Moreover, I faced challenges in making lateral thinking and diagnosis of problem statement. Therefore, I need to view some quality course works to evaluate the prior studies in point of suitable success factor identification of my task. I conveyed practical knowledge of detailed and empirical studies to include maximum research and analysis in completion of module. Technically, the module was sound in all aspects consideration and I gained legitimate growth in collaboration of teamwork and management of the same. Van Gogh Biography Essays - Vincent Van Gogh, Van Gogh Museum

Van Gogh Biography Vincent Van Gogh Vincent was born on March 30, 1853, in the village of Groot Zunbert in the Dutch province of North Brabant. At sixteen, he left school. Through the influence of Uncle Cent, a place was found for him in the office of Goupil and Cie at The Hague. Goupil's was a conservative house, specializing in well-made reproductions of famous paintings. When he was twenty Vincent was transferred, with a fine recommendation, to the London branch of Goupil's. He found a room in the home of Mrs. Loyer, who with her daughter Ursula. In 1875 Uncle Cent arranged for him to be transferred to the Paris office in the hope that his spirits might be revived by a change in scene. Here he became increasingly careless in his work. He was given three months notice, and then six years of training as an art dealer ended. He was almost twenty-three, unemployed, and had not the slightest idea what he would do next. Vincent decided to return to England, where he found a job as a teacher in a boarding school. After he gave up that job, he took another teaching job at a school in Isleworth. As a young man, Vincent Van Gogh's strongest compulsion was to love and help mankind. The son of a minister, he chose quite naturally to take up religion. However, his evangelical mission was a disaster. The major reason Van Gogh committed him to being an artist was that through art he could pour out his feelings. If he could not alleviate the hard life of the poor Dutch peasant, at least he could show his compassion in drawing and paintings. Perhaps this was his way to a communion with God. In any case, it was in this crucible that his art was formed. In his short life, Van Gogh wrote nearly a thousand letters, often several a day. However, even as he was writing so expressively Van Gogh apparently felt that words were not as distinct as pictures. Having decided at twenty-seven that his mission in life was to become an artist, he established his first "studio" in the cottage of a Borinage coal miner. He paid the rent with small sums sent by his father and commenced his education in a rage of work. From The Hague the manager of Goupil's branch office Theo sent textbooks on anatomy and perspective. Theo suggested that Vincent join him in Paris, but Vincent seems to have been reluctant to venture into what was then the center of the art world. Instead, in the fall of 1880, he went to Brussels and moved into the cheapest hotel he could find. Vincent remained in Brussels during the winter 1880-1881, struggling with his draftsmanship and reporting his progress to Theo. At this time, Vincent's colors were still dark. The Potato Eaters is ordinarily called Van Gogh's first "masterpiece". There are no references to religion in Vincent's remarks about The Potato Eaters. Eight months after his father's death Vincent left Holland, never to return. The benefit of his three-month visit in Antwerp was an increased exposure to color, or, more accurately, increased thought about it. Van Gogh was soon to be the most intense colorist of his time. He sensed that color has meaning that transcends mere visual impressions. When Van Gogh arrived in Paris in 1886, he was eager to learn and ready to be stimulated by new experiences. In two years, he went through a complete change as a painter. Brightness and lightness flooded his work. He painted serene caf? interiors and breeze swept landscapes. The dark figures of laborers at work were replaced by close-ups of friends and of him at rest. Vincent worked hard to perfect his technical skill. In 1888, his production was torrential. Between his arrival in February and his hospitalization after his mental collapse in December, he made at least 90 drawings and 100 paintings. Vincent defended himself by referring to the speed of Claude Monet. From February 1888 to May 1889, he produced some 200 paintings, as well as many drawings. His work under the sun at Arles established him as a giant in art, but when it was over,
